Want a healthy chocolate smoothie?

There’s a gorgeous little cafe not far from us that has the most amazing cacao and date smoothie on the menu.  Mr nearly three and I can’t help ourselves.  We can’t talk as we sip down our smoothies watching the waves crash on the shore.  Hubby just laughs at us.

We salivate!!

Afterwards, we play chasey on the sand… And giggle.

 

So what do you do?

We do what we do best.  We come home and recreate our very own.

Trust me, you’ll love it!  It’s a favourite in our house.

 

Sare’s Choco-Coco Smoothie

  • 1 1/2 frozen bananas
  • 2-3 medjool dates (de-pipped)
  • 1 heaped tbsp cacao powder
  • 1 heaped tbsp protein powder
  • 2 heaped tbsp coconut yoghurt OR 1/3 cup 100% pure coconut cream and 1/2 tsp probiotic powder 
  • 1 tsp chia seed
  • 1/2 tsp bee pollen
  • 1/2 tsp gubinge powder (natural source of vitamin c)
  • 1 tsp maple syrup
  • 400ml almond milk

Blend and drink. Yum!

My Cacao Coconut Bliss Balls

rawdatetreats_1264Looking for a yummy, healthy, sweet treat with none of those sugar spikes.  A treat that is good for you and a treat that can help rid your body of cellulite.  Well… look no further.  The best news is that you can make them at home in less than 10 minutes!

My Cacao Balls

  • 1 1/5 cups pitted dried dates
  • 1/2 cup STRONG green tea
  • 4 tbsp LSA
  • 4 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 4 tbsp coconut flour
  • 1 handful sultanas
  • 2 tbsp dark agave syrup (to taste)
  • 4 tbsp chia seeds
  • 2-3 tbsp raw organic coconut oil (to desired consistency)
  • 1 dash vanilla extract
  • 1 cup organic unsweetened shredded coconut

Soak the dates in the green tea for 5 minutes or so.  Then in a food processor add the dates to the rest of the ingredients (minus the coconut oil and the shredded coconut).  Whir with chopping blade.  Once chopped, use the remaining green tea and the coconut oil to moisten the mixture till you reach the desired consistency to be able to roll into balls with your hands.  If too moist, slowly add more coconut flour.  Taking a teaspoon full of mixture at a time, roll into balls and then coat with organic shredded coconut.  Refrigerate for an hour to harden the balls.  Balls can then be kept in the fridge or at room temperature in a sealed container.  Your choice!

coconut-rum-ballsYou will find my cacao balls delicious and just the right sweetener to keep those sugar cravings at bay.  Packed with fibre, loaded with raw coconut and it’s health benefits, gluten free, with green tea antioxidants and low GI, I find these balls eliminate my refined sugar intake and help strip my body of cellulite.  And the best thing is, one or two can really satisfy!

Chocolate Coconut Ice Cream

chocolate-ice-cream24webSummer is here with a venegance!  Heat waves all over Australia.  Devastating bush fires in Tasmania, New South Wales and the ACT.  There seems to be no end in sight!

We are all looking for ways to cool down!

There is nothing yummier or cooler on a hot summer’s day than a beautiful big bowl of home-made ice cream.  This Chocolate Coconut ice cream was such a cinch to make.

My healthy Chocolate Coconut Ice Cream

  • 2 heaped tablespoons of cacao powder (Or substitute with cocoa.  Cacao is raw, not heat treated like cocoa, and is therefore packed full of nutrients and antioxidants. Nature’s super, dooper food!)
  • 1/3 cup agave syrup (a yummy, unprocessed, low GI sweetener made from a mexican cactus.)
  • 3 cups of coconut cream (we all know the health benefits of coconut! ;))

Mix together well with beaters and then place into an ice cream maker and follow manufacturers instructions.

OMG!! Yum!!

Next I am going to try a healthy version of choc mint ice cream…. Nice and cooling on a hot day.  Will promise to share…
